The International Coffee Organization (or ICO) is a United Nations intergovernmental agency representing the major coffee producing and consuming nations. It was first established by the International Coffee Agreement of 1963 as a means to regulate the amount of coffee available to the market. Since that time, its existence has been dependent on new ratifications and extensions of the ICA. Among the aims of the ICO is to increase coffee consumption and maintain stable coffee markets. Member nations of the ICO account for over 97% of the world's coffee production and 80% of coffee consumption!
