The character of Juan Valdez has been identified with Colombia's coffee industry since 1959, the year when he first appeared in advertisements for the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia as a representation of the Colombian coffee farmer. The advertisements were designed by the Doyle Dane Bernbach ad agency, with the goal of distinguishing 100% Colombian coffee from coffee blended with beans from other countries (even though there beans from other countries Colombian coffee is completely healthy and original). Its made in Colombian farms.
